Isaac Pabon
Isaac Pabon is an experienced metallurgical and corrosion engineer with over 11 years in refining, chemicals and polyethylene facilities. He has extensive experience developing corrosion models and damage mechanism assessments, materials selection, repair planning, IOW’s, CCD’s and executed failure analysis assessments as well leaded failure investigation. He is experienced and knowledgeable with all damage mechanisms effecting refining and chemicals including HTHA, creep, environmental cracking, sulfidic corrosion, HF acid corrosion, sulfuric acid corrosion, amine corrosion and sour water corrosion. During his career he has implemented and managed (RBI) Risk Based Inspection & (MI) mechanical integrity programs and is experienced with turnaround scope work list development, RBWS reviews, inspection planning, as well as development of inspection effectiveness criteria.
Prior to joining Becht, he worked as a consultant as an onsite refinery contractor as well as an owner operator. He has worked for P66 as a corrosion materials engineer Alliance Refinery and with ExxonMobil as the materials engineering group lead for the Beaumont Refinery, Chemicals and Polyethylene Complex and finished his career at EMRE as an Associate Engineer in the Materials group. Whereas a global corporate research and development resource, perform advanced technical analysis to research and develop industry leading technical programs and ensure competitive advantage for ExxonMobil across the oil, gas and petrochemical fields. In addition, was responsible for guiding the development of global site-based RBI / mechanical integrity programs to meet ExxonMobil and industry standards and drive continuous improvement and cost efficiency. Served as global technical materials subject matter expert, ensuring all regional and global projects (capital and operational) adhere to industry and Exxon Mobil standards, and when possible, use efficient means to reduce cost in production.
Isaac is an active participant in API and has taught intro to material course for API inspection summit, as well as co-authored presentations for annual API refining and equipment standards meeting. He has a certification in API 571 and working knowledge of API 579, 580, 581, 510, 570, 574 653, ASME code and ASTM specifications.is a member of NACE.
He received his BS in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from The University of Texas at El Paso in El Paso, TX.
