Becht Engineering has substantial expertise in pressure vessels. Our full-time engineering staff includes members of the ASME Committee on Pressure Vessels (BPV VIII); Subgroup on Design; Subgroup on General Requirements; Subgroup on Heat Transfer Equipment; Subgroup on High-Pressure Vessels (former Chair); Subgroup on Toughness; Working Group on Design-By-Analysis; Task Group on Impulsively Loaded Vessels; Subgroup on External Pressure; Subgroup on Elevated Temperature Design (former Chair).  Our senior specialists in this area include Bob Sims, Clyde Neely, Don Kurle, Trevor Seipp, and Dr. Charles Becht, all of whom are active on key ASME Pressure Vessel Code Committees.

We perform both routine and highly complex design and analysis of pressure vessels and heat exchangers. Becht's extensive experience in detailed analysis and code intent are essential to proper interpretation of these analyses. These evaluations are performed for new and existing equipment including rerating for changing service conditions and fitness-for-service evaluations for corroded, cracked or otherwise deteriorated vessels.

Becht Engineering has developed a reputation as one of the premier providers of Design-By-Analysis services.  We have a deep reservoir of staff that perfrom finite element analysis using commercial programs such as ABAQUS, ANSYS, SolidWorks and products of Paulin Research Group.  Types of analysis include linear and nonlinear analysis, stress, heat transfer and dynamics including seismic.

Given the many analytical tools available, we are able to choose the most efficient and cost-effective tool for the task at hand; for example, we frequently use non-linear analysis to develop more efficient equipment designs and/or to demonstrate that existing equipment is fit for service. Our extensive code expertise enables us to provide authoritative interpretations of the analysis results. Our experts include such frequently published engineers as Greg Hollinger, Trevor Seipp, and Dr. Charles Becht.
