Hydroprocessing and Lubes Process Specialist
Robert W. Bortz has extensive domestic and international experience in the design, improvement, and performance of processes for the manufacture of fuels, lubricants and transformer oils, during his 33 year career with Mobil. He led both research technical training and technical support groups for Mobil’s licensed lubes and fuels dewaxing technologies, was involved in their development of next generation dewaxing catalysts; as well as the technology to produce very high quality lube base stocks.
He is also the author of five process patents and technical publications.
He provided technical service support for Mobil’s eight lube plants worldwide and was involved in the creation of a Lube Crude Ranking Technique which resulted in a significant reduction in costs for lube crude approvals. Additionally, he has developed (computer) programs to assess refinery process unit shutdowns during steam and electric emergencies.
Since joining Becht in 2001, Robert has worked exclusively for ExxonMobil's Technology Sales & Licensing in support of their proprietary Catalytic Dewaxing Technologies for both fuels and lubes worldwide.
Mr. Bortz holds a B.S. degree in chemical engineering from Drexel University, Philadelphia, PA.
