Client had a Tier 1 fatality associated with a Fired Heater deflagration event. Becht was contacted to lead incident investigation and subsequently develop program to assess fleetwide fired heaters.
Becht utilized our proprietary Fired Heater Assessment methodology focusing on high-criticality heaters at each site. Developed risk ranking methodology with critical factors. Reviewed data, onsite interviews, remote analysis.
Approach provided practical recommendations to improve asset operation in operations, mechanical integrity, process, instrument & control and other disciplines. Focused corporate spending on assets that were highest risk.
Fleetwide analysis allowed corporate management to focus spending and technical support on the highest risk assets based on a common evaluation criteria.
Becht’s multi-disciplinary approach led to identification of critical risk throughout the heater fleet with actionable recommendations to improve operations.
