frequently asked questions

Quick answers to common questions and key facts about our services.

How will I know if this is the right program to qualify my operators?

Whether your company aims to enhance and streamline its qualification program for petrochemical and refinery operators, safeguard institutional knowledge amid workforce changes, or implement a more organized and strategic approach to employee development, Becht's Operator Qualification Program is the ideal solution.

Who develops the training material and writes the content?

For the initial development, Becht assembles a multidisciplinary team to create the foundational technical content. This team typically includes former operators with relevant unit experience or similar expertise, along with technical writers, curriculum designers, engineers, client’s subject matter experts, and others. The team is led by a project manager with extensive experience in training solutions and implementation.

Is the training generic or specific?

While some concepts and fundamentals may be generic due to their nature, the training is fully customized for each client based on unit-specific considerations and particular training needs.

How does Becht ensure the training material is accurate?

Becht works with the client's subject matter experts to ensure the technical content is accurate and relevant to the unit. Two to three revision cycles are usually needed to ensure not only technical accuracy but also to encourage team participation and ownership on the client end.

What happens if there is no unit expertise on site to provide significant feedback and ensure accuracy?

Becht can provide external subject matter experts to facilitate the development of the material and ensure technical accuracy.

Is this a good program for greenfield projects?

Absolutely. From the very beginning, this is an excellent opportunity to set your training initiatives on the right path by leveraging Becht’s expertise in adult learning methodologies and training solutions. Becht will collaborate with EPC companies and commissioning engineers to ensure the training content is accurate and that the program effectively prepares the workforce to safely start and operate the units.

Does Becht provide native files for all training documentation?

Yes. All files are provided at the end of the project, and content ownership is transferred to the document manager onsite.

How long does it take to complete a project?

The duration depends on the number of units. For the context of this question, a unit includes one console job position and one or two field positions. It can take 4 to 6 months to complete all the technical content, assuming that the client's subject matter experts are equally involved and collaborate according to the recommended schedule.

What level of involvement is needed from clients for a project to be successful?

A program is most likely to be successful and sustainable if the client is involved in all phases of development and revisions. Ideally, clients should offer dedicated resources to serve as subject matter experts and ensure relevant content, exercises, and scenarios are captured to represent the reality of their units and operations.
