Bio Lubestock Feasibility Study
Situation: A North American entity was considering building a facility to produce synthetic base oils from farnesene, which is derived from renewable feedstock. Becht was requested to complete a technical and economic cold eyes review of the process feasibility and capital costs on behalf of a potential equity partner.
Action: Becht staff prepared a summary of key risks and potential mitigations for the overall process. Issues around critical equipment sparing, heat and material balance consistency, and metallurgy selection were identified.
Result: Client utilized the results from Becht to include in their investment decision and terms of a potential equity stake in the new facility. The Client was able to understand technical and investment cost risk prior to making an investment decision.
