Tailored Bio-Oil Process Design
Situation: A North American Biofuels Innovation Company was developing a step-out biofuels process, using animal waste to convert to bio-oil.
Action: Becht was engaged to assist the client in conceptual design, detailed design, and fabrication of the scaled-up reactor. Becht supported early planning studies, preliminary cost estimates, heat and material balance and process flowsheet preparation and review, and equipment design specification definition.
Becht then collaborated with a team of process licensors, process developers, and investors to assess the technology.
Result: This involvement helped the Innovation firm confirm mechanical and capital feasibility as well as determining key design considerations with the reactor design.
