SITUATION

Customer

• APAC Refiner
• Needed redesign for a new reactors
• Reactors required replacement due to high temperature hydrogen attack (HTHA)

Objectives

• Provide study of two locations for new reactors and provide process estimates of unit performance with new reactors
• Later provide design for new reactors

APPROACH

• Client provided the Licensor’s Mechanical Design Specification for replacement of three reactors.
• Multi-disciplined team studied replacing with only two reactors at two potential locations in the refinery.
• Worked closely with the Client and their catalyst supplier to update a new process basis for the project.
• A Design Basis Specification was issued to the Client, and later new abbreviated process design information and a new Mechanical Specification was produced.

• Location study identified replacement at location of existing reactors
