Refinery-Wide Reliability Gap Assessment
Situation: A North America refinery had a series of major incidents including shutdowns every 18 months with no main driver identified. Reliability was <90% and local government was threatening operations.
Action: A Becht multi-disciplinary team was brought in to do a refinery-wide reliability gap assessment. Over 60 recommendations were ranked to address high and medium priority gaps and an implementation plan was put in place.
Result: Reliability increased to >98%. Refinery received corporate-wide reliability award after two years and operated without any fires or unplanned outages for five years!
