US Refiner – Risk Based Work Selection

Gulf Coast Refiner had a significant size Turnaround scope and wanted support challenging scope with a risk-based approach. This was a 1st quartile maintenance spend facility that wanted to see if additional value could be gained through scope-challenge sessions.
Becht piloted our Risk Based Work Selection (RBWS) approach leveraging our web-based BechtRBWS software. Scope challenge led to a scope reduction of $10MM with full alignment from the inspection, operations and process organization. Scope challenge was completed with two highly experienced integrity & operations specialist.
Client organization has since hired Becht at two additional sites (multiple times) to complete Risk Based Work Selection and is further evaluating fleet-wide implementation.
Client saved $2.4 to $10 MM on planned worklist at multiple facilities.
Leveraging our web-based BechtRBWS tool and onsite facilitation the client was able to rationalize turnaround work scope significantly through a risk-based approach. Benefits include improved turnaround schedule, better planning of needed maintenance and reduced personnel exposure hours during Turnaround.
