Collaboration with GDA in the Middle East

Becht joined the Gulf Downstream Association (GDA) in March 2021 as an Associate Member to better access and collaborate with customers in the Middle East. GDA is a non-profit association established by Saudi Aramco, ADNOC Refining, KNPC, KPI, BAPCO Refining, and OQ to serve as a common platform for downstream players in the region to collaborate with each other while sharing their knowledge and experiences.

GDA runs 11 technical committees with volunteers from the founding companies and members from across our industry. Becht has experts sitting on the Plant Reliability & Integrity Technical Committee. Our involvement with GDA has allowed us to showcase our unique strengths in helping clients increase refinery margins, reducing energy consumption and delivering better return on their investments with new projects.

Recently, Chris Van der Beek, Managing Director EMEA, attended the GDA Annual Meet in Kuwait, where he represented Becht at the Annual General Assembly. Chris made new contacts on the board and built many new relationships with refiners and technology providers.

Becht participated in the “Gulf Energy Day” on 22nd October 2023 alongside other GDA members by posting a video message highlighting our contributions in energy transformation (https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7121676778984673280).

Becht is planning to deliver some webinars on the following topics to the members of GDA in the coming months:

  • Digitalized Corrosion Control Document for enhanced mechanical integrity and reliability
  • Improving the reliability of rotating equipment
  • Coke drums life cycle management

Refiners are actively addressing many technological challenges where Becht can help, such as: decarbonization roadmap, energy efficiency, process efficiency, catalysts lifecycle extension, operational excellence readiness in new mega projects, digital transformation acceleration, reliability framework and tools, massive power generation from renewable sources to replace fuel, margin improvements, and framework / model to reach net-zero target by 2050.

Becht looks forward to visiting and networking with refiners across the Middle East and continuing to help our clients succeed.
