Becht’s Learning & Development 2024 Resolutions

Happy New Year! As we all embark on new adventures in 2024, it’s important to start with a sense of purpose and goals for the future. A new year is always a time for growth – personally and professionally – and Becht’s training team has taken this to heart! Becht’s training courses highlight, discuss, and disseminate industry Best Practices to upskill and optimize the workforce across Mechanical, Process, and Operations personnel in the oil and gas industry. It’s a tall order! And so, as we move into 2024, we’ve made some resolutions to help us stay true to these goals.

  1. Travel more and experience new places

To better serve our clients worldwide, Becht Learning & Development has expanded our Public Training offerings from America and Canada to our offices in the Netherlands. Some of our most popular public training classes, such as Introduction to Petroleum Refining Processing, Refinery Economics & Margin Improvement, Hydrotreating & Hydrocracking, and ASME B31.3 Process Piping will be offered in live sessions in The Hague in Spring 2024. These courses will be taught by Becht’s local subject matter experts, providing an owner-operator perspective and knowledge specific to European refineries. To learn more about these training sessions, please visit our website here.

  1. Be a good listener

Here at Becht, we believe that learning is all about continuous improvement. With this in mind, we are constantly striving to improve the training experience. We ask for trainee feedback – and that feedback is read by ACTUAL people! Based on your feedback, we have made these changes in the past year:

  • Allowing more opportunities for discussion and networking, such as during our Public Training Happy Hours
  • Improving the experience for virtual attendees with the use of virtual whiteboards
  • Making our training sessions more fun and engaging with Becht swag and prizes

Moving into 2024, we plan to work toward incorporating more workshopping and exercises within our trainings, continuing to improve the experience for our virtual attendees, and making our training materials more accessible. We are so excited to continue to grow and improve the value of our courses for you!

  1. Learn something new

Continuous improvement comes from continuous learning, and with this in mind, we are expanding our Becht course catalog in 2024! We are developing and presenting new mechanical engineering courses, such as Rotating Equipment Fundamentals and Pressure Equipment Engineering Fundamentals, and updating our current codes & standards classes to reflect recent revisions. To cover broader training needs, we are offering a full-service holistic Operator Qualification program that can be scaled up or down to meet the needs of your workforce. And finally, to ensure that your team has not only the knowledge they need, but also the ability to communicate that knowledge, we are offering updated soft skills courses such as Train-the-Trainer, Technical Communications, and – new in 2024 – Technical Writing Basics.

  1. Meet new people

New people bring new knowledge and perspectives. As Becht’s training offerings continue to grow in the new year, we are on the lookout for opportunities for new partnerships, both internally and externally. With Becht’s technical divisions and our worldwide network of technical advisors, we collaborate seamlessly to provide nuanced, technology-agnostic trainings that you won’t find anywhere else. In addition to our collaborations within the Becht family, our Learning & Development team is always energized by new challenges – whether it’s a customized training that you haven’t been able to find anywhere else, a total overhaul of your existing training program, or finding the right fit to train your workforce, we are here for you! Let’s meet up and discuss how Becht Learning & Development can bring you a world of solutions.
