FCCU Onstream Repair Design
Our client developed an onstream leak at a critical catalyst withdrawal nozzle in an FCCU.
Within two days of being contacted, Becht developed a repair compliant with ASME PCC-2 that would be qualified to run until the next turnaround.
Furthermore, Becht developed a long-term solution redesign of the configuration to reduce the thermal stresses at the connection so that subsequent failures would not occur.
Becht was able to help the client avoid shutdown of the unit by developing a code-compliant onstream repair that could be installed safely. Becht also developed a long-term solution to prevent future cracking.
