The Becht Team

Joseph Jacobs
Joseph “Joe” Jacobs has over 30 years’ experience in refining, process optimization, and operations leadership, with a strong track record in profitability improvement and strategic project execution. He has been known to enjoy a round of golf or taking in a baseball game with the family.
Joseph has evaluated FCC performance for over 25 units worldwide in tech service and consulting roles. This journey has also led to significant involvement in hydro processing and alkylation evaluations. Joseph has also developed knowledge of the sulfur complex for treating and recovery. Technology knowledge is wrapped in simulation skills to model these processes to achieve desired results in process improvement. The results can take many forms: yield improvements, better energy efficiency, increased reliability, and better environmental performance.
As part of Operations Management, Joseph has experience running a business team. He was accountable for maintenance expenses, capital spending, safety performance, environmental compliance, yield performance, unit reliability, turnaround scope, operator training and personnel development. He has led implementation of a grass roots Operating Window program including the site procedure, alarm rationalizations, site training, and compliance assurance. This broad experience helps bring practicality to the solutions recommended to our clients as well as guidance through the change process.
Joseph has international experience in consulting having worked in Japan, Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Ecuador, Venezuela, Croatia, England, and The Netherlands for a total of 60 production and corporate sites. He has performed many technical engagements as well as managed large projects for corporate teams and single site clients including financial institutions. Project experience includes due diligence, tax valuations, technology selection, project feasibility, and profit improvement.
Mr. Jacobs holds a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, AR, and a Master’s in Business Administration degree from Colorado State University, Fort Collins, CO. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Louisiana.
