The Becht Team

Sebastian Chialvo, Ph.D.
Sebastian Chialvo has 12 years of industrial experience specializing in modeling fluid flow, heat transfer, and reacting systems. He is an expert in developing and utilizing fit-for-purpose models, including computational fluid dynamics (CFD), to provide practical solutions to complex flow problems. He has applied his expertise to troubleshoot, improve, and scale up chemical processes, evaluate and improve process equipment, and investigate process safety and environmental issues proactively and reactively.
Prior to joining Becht, Sebastian worked for eight years at ExxonMobil Research and Engineering where he supported numerous projects for the Upstream, Downstream, and Chemicals businesses. He also served as group lead for its fluid dynamics group and held technical quality oversight responsibilities for fluid dynamics and CFD modeling work. He then worked for two years at Engineering Systems Inc., where he became more involved in root cause investigation of safety and environmental incidents.
Sebastian is coauthoring a book on the practice of CFD modeling in the chemical process industries, a topic with limited representation in existing literature. This work aims to provide practical insights and bridge a critical gap for industry professionals working with CFD.
Sebastian holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Princeton University and a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Florida.
