The Becht Team
Kelsey Wortham
Kelsey Wortham’s background is in asset integrity and inspection with 14 years of experience in various industries including oil and gas, petrochemical, and syngas. She began her career at the Flint Hills Resources Corpus Christi refinery as a Plant Engineer managing projects and supporting multiple operating units with mechanical engineering needs. As a Plant Engineer, she designed a program to estimate the remaining life of heater tubes due to creep failure and created an excel program to evaluate minimum pressurization temperatures for equipment. She was promoted to Heat Exchanger Reliability Engineer and spent 2 years at the same facility in the Fixed Equipment Reliability Department. As the Heat Exchanger Reliability Engineer, she was instrumental in developing reliability programs and initiatives to proactively manage equipment integrity. Mrs. Wortham also assisted with the RBI program, failure analysis, turnaround planning, and heat exchanger selection for new projects.
After her time at FHR Corpus Christi, Mrs. Wortham was a Technical Advisor for North America and Caribbean Syngas at Quest Integrity Group. At Quest Integrity, she advised inspection and engineering services for steam reformers in the Syngas industry and published an article “Effective Integrity Management Programs for Steam Reformers” in the Inspectioneering Journal. Mrs. Wortham was active on the committee to develop an API Reforming Furnaces Standard, specifically the inspection and remaining life of reforming furnaces.
Mrs. Wortham continued her career with Universal Plant Services as a Project Engineer managing turnarounds and outages for several different refineries. She was key to the safe, successful, and on-budget completion of several multi-million dollar turnarounds. She managed cost estimating, engineering, resource allocation, staffing, and overall integrated recourse loaded work steps for a variety of units throughout her time with UPS including CCR, FCC, Cogeneration, MSTDP, Crude and Vacuum, FGRU, and Hydroprocessing (DDS, HDC, NHT).
After UPS, Mrs. Wortham transitioned into another industry working in silica sand manufacturing at a facility with both open-pit and underground mining. She was a key player in the site’s project leadership, procurement, preventative maintenance, reliability, and engineering.
As a Project Manager at Becht, Mrs. Wortham will manage CCD and RBI projects.
Mrs. Wortham holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Summa Cum Laude, Valedictorian of Engineering Class, from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
