Brian Marshik
Brian Marshik has worked in the Mechanical Integrity Industry for 11 years and currently holds an API 580 certification. Over the past several years, he has acquired technical knowledge that has assisted him in multiple GE APM migration projects, IDMS management, as well as RBI implementations and reassessments.
Mr. Marshik began his career at St. Paul Park Refinery (Marathon Petroleum) in 2013 as the Damage Prevention Coordinator. In this role, his primary focus was to ensure integrity and damage prevention for the pipeline and to serve as the IDMS site lead. During his time at St. Paul Park, he also acquired the roles of PSV coordinator and SAP asset management for fixed equipment.
In his role as the Damage Prevention Coordinator, Mr. Marshik worked closely with 3rd party excavators and engineers to ensure proper prevention measures were adhered by in the field per OSHA and MPC guidelines to maintain pipeline and underground facility integrity. He also was responsible for all pipeline right-a-way (ROW) activity findings and inspections completed by MPC designated aerial patrol.
In his role as IDMS site lead, Mr. Marshik took part in multiple APM migrations. These projects included Meridium V3 to APM V4 migration for all equipment, V3 Calibration Manager to APM V4 Calibration Manager module (Instrumentation), and overall APM site support for SAP implementation. Other responsibilities within this role were to support all users in query building, data loading, and any issue that would come to surface. He provided training to new users as well as detailed training for crafts that used specific modules within the IDMS.
As the role progressed, Mr. Marshik added PSV coordinator to his responsibilities. He worked with the site preferred vendor regarding all relief valve testing and failures. He evaluated each test report, history, and adjusted inspection intervals accordingly within the IDMS. Mr. Marshik reviewed and modified the site’s relief valve procedure to ensure in accordance with API RP 576 and worked with the craft for any discrepancies.
Within the Becht RBI Group, Mr. Marshik has provided RBI revalidation, implementation, and health check expertise as an RBI Analyst.
He graduated from The College of St. Scholastica in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in Marketing, and is based in Woodbury, MN.
