Terry McLane
Terry McLane is an experienced Mechanical Integrity Specialist and Refining Chief Inspector. He has been working at Becht since April of 2023 and has over 42 years of refining experience with 29 of those years as a Chief Inspector.
He has been involved in numerous detailed plant mechanical integrity audits. He served as an Assistant Fire Chief on a refinery fire brigade for 20 years. He has been involved in fire damage assessments and repairs. He is skillful in writing and reviewing mechanical integrity management procedures.
He is experienced in reviewing past inspections and completing inspection planning using risk-based methodologies, turnaround planning, work scope review, scheduling and execution, and is knowledgeable in refining damage mechanisms as referenced in API-571. He has significant experience in vendor surveillance and fabrication shop QA reviews.
He has a solid welding inspection background as a Certified Welding Inspector and has written numerous welding procedures. He has also reviewed countless welding procedures submitted for approval for facility work.
He is experienced in Risk Based Inspection, having completed pre-turnaround evaluations on individual process units and entire refining facilities. When possible, inspections were completed online to identify or eliminate potential discovery work during turnarounds. Inspection plans were developed in detail as to what was required for inspection along with the probability and extent of repairs or replacement of turnaround equipment and piping.
